Door’s In My Head (A Poem)
There are doors in my head
Hiding the monsters that scare me the most,
The demons that keep me awake at night,
Shadows that dog my every step
I will them to stay shut
Pushing my weight against them,
Blocking the handle with tables and chairs
But the doors never fully close
The black dog prowling at a distance
Catching his tail out the corner of my eye,
His stale breath teasing my nostrils
Reminds me the doors will never shut
It’s only a matter of time
Before the doors will fling open
And the monsters will be let loose
Leaving death in its path of destruction
